hygienilac - anti-bacterial finish for doorsets

The threat of infection exists in all environments, whether it be a school, hospital, care home, hotel or catering establishment. As a result there is now a real need for protection from bacteria and cross contamination from common items such as walls, doors and floors.

Thanks to a revolutionary anti-bacterial product called Hygienilac and market leaders, Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw, the chances of dangerous infections surviving on doors and doorsets can be significantly reduced.

When Hygienilac is added to wood lacquers, it kills most species of bacteria including C.diff, MRSA, Salmonella and E.coli and goes on killing them for the lifetime of the lacquer - up to 10 years.

Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw believes that infection control is such an important issue that Hygienilac will now be added to the lacquer on all their veneered doors.

Why is Hygienilac different to other anti-bacterial finishes?

Hygienilac works by preventing the bacteria’s access to nutrients so their growth is inhibited and they will starve and die. It has a kill rate of 99.9 per cent over a 24-hour period and remains effective for years because of its inherently low water solubility. It does not employ silver technology and is completely UV stable. It is non-carcinogenic, non-mutagenic and non-skin sensitising.

Hygienilac has passed British Standard 6250 tests for severe usage and its active ingredient has approvals from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Health and Safety Executive (HSE) - for indirect or incidental food contact - and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It has also been given a Point 3 endorsement by the NHS Infection Control Rapid Review Panel (Surface Coating Category).

Hygienilac has been tested and independently verified by laboratories which endorse the 99.9% kill rate of the bacteria listed. Evidence is available on request.
