Approximately 550 Leaderflush Shapland Designer doorsets and screens were specified for the new £40 million Joseph Chamberlain College in Highgate, Birmingham which opened recently. The Designer range of flush doors, doorsets and screens has always been the heart of Leaderflush Shapland, giving specifiers the freedom to choose numerous wood veneer, PVC, paint and metal finishes. Doorsets for this project were supplied to meet 30 and 60 minutes fire resistance as well as up to 38 RwdB sound reduction. Crown Cut American Maple veneer finished with Hygienilac, providing antimicrobial protection, and laminate facings in grey and various hues of blue and green were used. Leaderflush Shapland also supplied glazed screens using their Barum frame section in order to comply with fire certification of up to 60 minutes. Joseph Chamberlain College is an independent sixth form college and is the only Sixth Form College or General Further Education College in Birmingham to have been awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher & Further Education and an overall grade 1 (outstanding) classification from OfSTED. Leaderflush Shapland has a wealth of experience within the education sector, other recent projects include Newfield and Talbot schools (Sheffield BSF), Bishop Ramsey School in London and the Merchants Academy in Bristol.
