By utilising factory assembled doorsets with
engineered tolerances and through the use of
efficient adjustable closers and low friction hinges
every attempt has been made to minimize the opening
force, where self closing is a requirement.
On occasion there may be situations where due to
project specification the opening force of 30N
specified in BS 8300 and AD M is unlikely to be
achieved. This may occur where there is a requirement
for smoke or acoustic seals or where air pressure
differentials increase resistance.
One potential solution would be to utilise an
electro hold open device. Electro hold open devices
are powered by 24V DC power supplies and will hold
the door open until the fire alarm is activated and
the power is terminated to the closer. Other
solutions include the use of a low energy power
operated door operator.
