Completely flush and seamless facings – perfect attributes for specialist industrial environments

Specialist environments call for specialist designs and when specifying materials for the construction of sensitive areas in industrial environments such as cleanrooms, laboratories and food processing units, the need for doorsets that offer contamination-free properties has never been greater.

Plasform® doors have rounded, postformed edges and can incorporate innovative flush glazing options which have flat, surfaces; these minimise the build up of airborne particles and can be wiped or washed clean. This makes them ideal for cleanroom environments which need to be free from particulates. Air and smoke seals can be fitted to maintain pressure differentials and prevent external contamination. The composite construction of Plasform® eliminates any danger of dust generation.

All facing materials have been tested for use in the food hygiene environment as well as being resistant to a wide range of commonly used chemicals. These properties make Plasform® doorsets ideal for the food processing industry where hygiene is of paramount importance.

Hygieniform PVC which incorporates the Hygienilac® additive protecting against common harmful bacteria makes the specification of the Plasform® range ideal for food processing environments. Hygieniform has passed British Standard 6250 tests for severe usage and has approvals from the Food and Drug Administration, Health and Safety Executive and the Environmental Protection Agency. Dust-free environments and anti-static capabilities are prerequisites for high-tec electronic industries. The Plasform® Unique range can satisfy these requirements making a viable option for such applications.

The rounded edges of Plasform® are less susceptible to damage than traditional square edges and doors and frames are impact resistant. ‘Medium Duty’ to ‘Severe Duty’ constructions can be tailor-made to meet particular traffic requirements.

There are many other factors which may need to be considered when designing laboratories – for example, the level of physical containment may be an issue and whether latched doors, locked doors or interlocked doors are required. Plasform® Unique products can achieve PCL4 to BS EN ISO 12128 ensuring physical containment is maintained. The range is also manufactured to the requirement of BS EN ISO 14644, ensuring the correct pressure differentials and nonshredding properties are maintained.

It may be desirable to have vision panels which can be obscured from time to time. Intelliglass® is an intelligent glazing system that provides privacy at the flick of a switch through the use of liquid crystal glass technology.

With its numerous performance options and a huge range of features, Plasform® can always provide perfect solutions for all these specialised industrial environments.
